About the role

The Chief Engineering and Technology Officer is a Group-level executive responsible for defining and leading Ignitis Group's engineering excellence, technology strategy, and technical capabilities across its integrated utility businesses - renewables, conventional generation, storage, and networks. The role ensures robust technical governance, asset reliability, and operational performance, while driving long-term technology competitiveness.

The Chief Engineering and Technology Officer acts as a strategic partner to the CEO, Management Board, and business leaders - providing technical leadership across major investment decisions, technology transformation, and the development of leading engineering capabilities. 

This position requires relocation to Vilnius, Lithuania.

You will contribute to green and secure energy ecosystem creation by: 

  • Group Engineering Strategy & Governance. Defining and leading the Group-wide engineering strategy, technical standards, and governance framework - ensuring a unified engineering and technology model. Ensure alignment with long-term strategic priorities and embed international best practices across all business units to enable consistent execution, scalable growth, and stronger technical accountability (excluding traditional IT functions).. 
  • Operational Excellence & Asset Performance. Providing strategic leadership and full accountability for the transition to a High Reliability Organisation (HRO), embedding a Group-wide Operational Excellence framework across generation, storage and network assets that aligns culture, governance and execution - driving proactive risk management, continuous improvement and consistent frontline performance, while standardising performance metrics and owning asset lifecycle, reliability and maintenance strategy to optimise safety, availability and long-term value.
  • Technology Strategy. Establishing a structured approach to identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing existing and new technologies across the Group's business domains - renewables, generation, storage, networks, and energy services. Ensure technology selection is governed by clear criteria: strategic fit, operational readiness, commercial viability, and long-term value creation.
  • Technical Leadership for Investment Decisions. Providing technical leadership across major capital investment decisions, including technical due diligence, risk assessment, constructability and deliverability review, and quality assurance. Serve as the principal technical voice in Management Board deliberations.
  • Engineering Capability & Culture. Building the Group's engineering leadership pipeline and future-critical technical capabilities. Champion a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, cross-company collaboration, and continuous learning. Define competency frameworks and development pathways that attract, retain, and grow top engineering talent.
  • Technical Safety, HSE Governance & Risk Management. Leading the technical dimension of HSE governance across the Group, including safety-critical standards, root-cause investigation frameworks, technical risk registers, engineering quality, and regulatory compliance. Ensure engineering decisions reinforce and strengthen the Group's safety culture.
  • Senior Technical Advisory & External Representation. Acting as the principal technical advisor to the CEO, Management Board, and business unit leaders - providing an enterprise-wide perspective on engineering, technology, asset performance, and technical risk. Represent Group's engineering and technology agenda with regulators, industry bodies, and strategic technology partners.

Required for this position:

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in energy, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure, with direct accountability for engineering, technology, or asset performance at Group or divisional level, ideally within international, multi-entity or group company environments.
  • International experience within a group of companies, with a strong understanding of operating across geographically dispersed assets, diverse regulatory environments, and cross-cultural stakeholder landscapes.
  • Proven ability to define and implement engineering strategy, technology roadmaps, technical standards, and governance models across complex organizations.
  • Experience supporting major CAPEX and strategic investment decisions, including technical due diligence governance, technical risk assessment, investment quality review, and asset lifecycle considerations.
  • Strong understanding of asset performance, reliability, maintenance philosophy, operational improvement, technical HSE, quality, investigations, compliance, and technical risk governance.
  • Strong ability to envision and evaluate emerging technologies, assessing their commercial, operational, technical, and strategic relevance within the energy transition landscape.
  • Strong business acumen, executive presence, and ability to engage effectively with Executive Committees, Investment Committees, Boards, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic systems thinking and transformation leadership, with the ability to build engineering capabilities, common standards, knowledge sharing, and a culture of accountability, safety, innovation, and operational discipline.
  • Willingness to be based in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The salary range for this position is from EUR 15,040 to EUR 18,400 (before tax). The final offer will depend on the candidate’s experience and competencies. A variable part of remuneration may be paid depending on results.
