Support for communities

Ignitis Group’s companies: UAB "Kauno kogeneracinė jėgainė", UAB "Vilniaus kogeneracinė jėgainė", UAB "Ignitis renewables" and its subsidiaries may financially support social, education, arts, culture, science and sport projects and activities organised by the communities located near the operations of those companies, including other purposes of such communities that are considered as beneficial to the public.

We encourage long-term cooperation between the Group companies and communities, which is important to local communities, creates value for residents and is in line with social norms and sustainable business principles.

Objectives of financial support

By following the good practice of other countries, we decided that financial support may only be provided by the Group companies developing and maintaining renewables projects.

We provide financial support for community projects and initiatives in order to contribute to the development of community infrastructure, events and other initiatives. We hope that contribution to the community wellbeing will help compensate any inconvenience experienced during the construction or operation of energy generation capacities.

In order to regulate the procedure of providing financial support, unified financial support provision objectives, key criteria and principles were established and described in the Group Financial Support and Humanitarian Aid Policy.

Which communities are eligible to receive financial support?

Financial support may be provided to communities located near renewables projects which are being developed or managed by Ignitis Group’s companies.

Financial support may be provided to social, education, art, culture, science and sport projects and activities, including other purposes that are considered as beneficial to the public. They must build and encourage long-term cooperation between the Group companies and the communities, meet the Group’s strategic objectives and comply with the requirements set out in the Group Financial Support and Humanitarian Aid Policy and other documents.
