We are currently looking for a new colleague to join the Engineering Team at Ignitis Renewables. In this position, you will lead the design, implementation, expansion, and optimization of SCADA systems for wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), as well as electrical substations within renewable energy parks and the Ignitis Renewables Control Room. Additionally, you will collaborate with system integrators to select and implement Master Controllers for hybrid plants. If that speaks to you, we’d be happy to welcome you to our team!

You will contribute to green and secure energy ecosystem creation by:

  • Leading the design, development, and implementation of communication and SCADA systems for renewable energy projects, including system architecture, component selection, and technical specifications
  • Coordinating and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, IT, and control room staff, to ensure seamless SCADA system integration
  • Serving as the primary technical point of contact for SCADA vendors, TSOs, and regulatory authorities
  • Overseeing and managing SCADA engineering projects, working closely with cross-functional teams, project managers, and construction teams to ensure timely delivery within budget and quality requirements
  • Implementing cybersecurity measures to protect SCADA systems and communication networks
  • Ensuring that all communication network architectures and SCADA system designs comply with local, national, and international standards relevant to renewable energy
  • Engaging with clients, contractors, and suppliers, providing clear and precise information on communication network and SCADA engineering matters, and actively participating in meetings, presentations, and technical reviews.

Required for this position:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of deep expertise in SCADA architecture, cybersecurity, and grid compliance for renewable energy projects, including working with SCADA systems and platforms in electrical network utilities or power plants, as well as hands-on experience in renewable power plant operations, electrical substations, and energy storage systems
  • Strong understanding of automation technologies, including remote terminal units (RTU) and controllers, communication network architecture, and equipment such as switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Familiarity with SCADA communication protocols (IEC 60870-5-103, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, OPC, ODBC) and expertise in cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems (ICS) and SCADA systems in the energy sector
  • Experience with database management (SQL, OSIsoft PI, or similar), VPNs, firewalls, and cybersecurity measures
  • Knowledge about electrical substation technologies, operational processes for renewable energy parks (wind, solar, BESS), and renewable energy trading systems software
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with engineering, IT, and control room teams, lead cross-functional projects, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
