Ignitis Renewables, an international green energy company, has completed another significant project.  Silesia wind farm II, located in the south of Poland, Opole Voivodeship, has reached the commercial operation date. The wind farm is equipped with 38 Nordex N117/3600 wind turbines and has a total installed capacity of 137 megawatts (MW).

“Silesia wind farm is an important part of our green generation portfolio. Every project of this scale enables us to move towards our strategic priority to deliver 4–5 GW of installed green capacities by 2030. We welcome the consolidation of our operations in Poland, which contributes to the green transformation of the entire region,” says Darius Maikštėnas, Ignitis Group’s CEO.

Silesia wind farm II can generate enough power to meet the annual demand of around 177 thousand households. It is one of the largest wind farms operating in Poland.

Successfully completed Silesia wind farm II reinforces the position of Ignitis Renewables in Poland. It is strong evidence of the company’s consistent efforts to expand its green generation portfolio and a further step towards a 100% green and secure energy ecosystem across the region.

The total investment in the wind farm, including the acquisition price and construction costs, is expected to reach up to EUR 240 million.
