Ignitis Group has been nominated in prestigious international awards for its ESG reporting

A renewables-focused integrated utility Ignitis Group was recognised internationally. The Group was nominated in prestigious IR Magazine, an international magazine covering investor relations, awards, which are often called ‘the Oscars’ of publicly listed companies. This is the first time when a company from the Baltic states has been nominated in the awards.

The awards took place in London on Thursday, where you heard Lithuania's name listed among the other nominees from 19 European countries. Ignitis Group and four other mid-capital companies were nominated for their ESG reporting efforts.

“This nomination is very important for our entire organisation. It confirms that by following the good corporate governance practices and aiming for the highest transparency and sustainability standards Ignitis Group has earned and retained the trust of investors. Sustainability-related information is becoming increasingly relevant to investors, and we recognise that our disclosures must be trustworthy, accurate and transparent,” said Valentas Neviera, Head of Group Sustainability at Ignitis Group.

The company is focusing on the energy sector's decarbonisation, modernisation, development of renewable energy sources, innovative solutions as well as expanding sustainably. The Group is also investing in wind technologies, increasing electricity distribution network’s efficiency, energy generation from waste and biomass as well as clean transportation projects. One of Ignitis Group’s key strategy goals is reaching net zero by 2040–2050.

Four other companies were listed as nominees together with Ignitis Group: Belgian technology company Barco, German chemicals company Lanxess, Swiss fintech company Leonteq and Swedish biopharmaceutical company Swedish Orphan Biovitrum.

Other categories of the IR Magazine awards included such nominees as Iberdrola, Allianz, Adidas, Hugo Boss, Airbus, Unilever, Mercedes-Benz Group, etc.

This year the awards, which are held annually in London since 1990, had 11 different categories. Besides the categories of the ‘Best overall investor relations’ and the ‘Best investor relations officer’, where nominees were selected by a special commission of professionals coming from various fields, other categories included the ‘Best annual report’, ‘Best investor event’, ‘Best IR website’, ‘Best innovation in shareholder communications’, ‘Best retail IR strategy’, ‘Best use of multimedia for IR’, ‘Rising star’ and other awards.

The nominees were rated by a commission of experts, including investment professionals and editorial representatives of IR Magazine.
