Ignitis Group was recognised as the good corporate governance leader for the fourth time

Governance Coordination Centre awarded Ignitis Group the highest governance rating in the category of large-sized companies. •  The Group is leading the Good Corporate Governance Index for the fourth year in a row.

Ignitis Group received the highest possible rating of ‘A+’ in transparency, collegial bodies and strategic planning and target achievement.

Ignitis Group was recognised as the best governed company in the category of large-sized state-owned enterprises in the Good Corporate Governance Index conducted by Governance Coordination Centre (GCC) every year. The corporate governance of the international energy company has received the top rating for the fourth time.

In 2021–2022 Good Corporate Governance Index, Ignitis Group received the highest rating of ‘A+’ in the category of large-sized state-owned companies. The Group received the highest corporate governance rating after evaluating the three corporate governance dimensions – transparency, collegial bodies and strategic planning and target achievement. After their evaluation, Ignitis Group received the highest possible rating of ‘A+’ – the same as last year.

“With the energy sector facing a challenging period with unpredictable disruptions, the good corporate governance solutions implemented by Ignitis Group help in maintaining a healthy approach and a strategic direction. The aforementioned solutions are an integral part of the Group’s activities, and, together with almost 3,800 colleagues, we are improving our activities in pursuit of ambitious and long-term strategic goals. We feel that it is important that the results of our efforts have also been recognised in the Good Corporate Governance Index – it also obligates us to remain the leaders in corporate governance,” said Darius Maikštėnas, CEO of Ignitis Group.

Ignitis Group is highly rated in the GCC report for independence, competences, functions of its collegial bodies and active committees. Ignitis Group also received the highest rating in, among other areas, anti-corruption, strategic planning, strategy implementation and monitoring, state-owned company target achievement.

The Good Corporate Governance Index has been conducted since 2012 and is the most widely used tool for measuring the governance quality of state-owned enterprises. The GCC states that its objective is to evaluate and measure how the state-owned companies implement key good corporate governance principles.
