Ignitis Group’s inaugural European Green Bond admitted to trading
Ignitis Group’s inaugural EUR 300 million European Green Bond issue has been admitted to trading on Nasdaq Vilnius and Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
Ignitis Group issued five-year bonds with a fixed annual interest rate of 4.5%, maturing on 27 October 2031.
The issue attracted strong interest from institutional investors across Europe and other regions. The final order book exceeded EUR 1 billion, with demand reaching 3.3 times the issue size and more than 80 investors participating in the offering.
“Ignitis Group’s capital market journey began six years ago with the largest IPO in the Baltics and continues today with its inaugural European Green Bond issue. This is a good example of how different financing instruments can help companies deliver long-term investments while giving investors an opportunity to contribute to the development of energy infrastructure,” says Gediminas Varnas, President of Nasdaq Vilnius.
This is Ignitis Group’s inaugural bond issue under the European Green Bond (EuGB) Standard, which sets requirements for the allocation of proceeds to environmentally sustainable economic activities and gives investors greater transparency on how the investments financed meet the environmental criteria.
Ignitis Group has a long track record in the green bond market. In 2017 and 2018, the company issued green bonds worth EUR 300 million each, both of which were also admitted to trading on Nasdaq Vilnius and Luxembourg Stock Exchange. The new issue continues the Group’s green financing journey and marks a new milestone as its inaugural bond issue under the European Green Bond Standard.
“We see the strong investor interest in this issue as a sign of confidence in Ignitis Group’s strategy and long-term prospects. This support is important as we continue investing in energy infrastructure and pursuing the Group’s objectives,” says Jonas Rimavičius, CFO of Ignitis Group.
The bonds were issued under Ignitis Group’s EUR 2 billion Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) Programme.
Ignitis Group currently has four bond issues outstanding, with a total nominal value of approximately EUR 1 billion.
