Ignitis ON, the leading EV fast-charging network in the Baltics, operated by Ignitis, will install more than 172 EV fast-charging points next to Maxima stores in Estonia. Ignitis ON charging points will be installed in the parking lots of 41 Maxima stores across Estonia, and the first ones will already be operating by the end of this year.

According to Eimantas Balta, Member of the Board at Ignitis Eesti and Head of E-Mobility at Ignitis, the cooperation with the supermarket chain, which is well-known and well-liked in all the Baltic states, is both gratifying and significant. IT reflects Ignitis ON's ambition to be convenient and everywhere EV drivers go.

“We can clearly see the growing demand for EVs and convenient charging in Estonia. Every kilometre driven by an EV charged at our charging point is zero emissions because as all our electricity comes from renewable energy sources,” E. Balta said.

Depending on the size of a parking lot, each store will have up to 6 charging point with a capacity of 60–200 kW. A total of 172 charging points will be installed.

The new charging points will be installed throughout Estonia:  Tallinn, Narva, Kiviõli, Tartu, Narva-Jõesuu, Jõhvi, Otepää, Viljandi, Jõgeva, Tamsalu, Rakvere, Türi, Tartu Parish, Paide, Paldiski, Saue, Maardu, Sindi, Kiili, Märjamaa, Elva, Tapa, Tõrva, Viimsi, Laagri, Keila, Võru, Kuressaare, Sillamäe and Pärnu.

According to Rolandas Šležas, Director of Real Estate and Construction Department at Maxima Estonia, the significant number of charging points will ensure that drivers in both urban and rural areas will have access to reliable charging infrastructure. “In Estonia, vehicles are especially important for commuting in rural areas. By making EV utilisation more convenient to our customers, we enable them to move sustainably throughout Estonia. Our cooperation is therefore beneficial for both our customers and the environment," said R. Šležas.

According to R. Šležas, the first charging points will be installed at the parking lots of the stores by the end of this year and the installation will be completed in March. The first charging points will have 60 kW Wallbox charging stations, and 200 kW Alpitronic charging stations will be installed later. Later on, the capacity of the 60 kW charging stations will be gradually upgraded to 180 kW.

Ignitis ON aims to install over 2,000 EV charging points in the Baltic states by 2028. Currently, around half of them are already installed. In cooperation with Maxima, 172 charging points will be installed in Estonia, 81 in Latvia, and 78 in Lithuania.
