Ignitis Renewables marks record year with six projects reaching commercial operation in 2025
In 2025, Ignitis Renewables brought 714 megawatts (MW) of new renewable capacity online across the Baltics and Poland – the strongest delivery year in the company’s history. Six large-scale wind and solar projects entered commercial operation, reinforcing Ignitis Renewables’ position as one of the region’s leading renewable energy developers.
“In 2025, we delivered renewable capacity at scale and at speed. The projects commissioned last year significantly increase domestic electricity generation and strengthen the region’s energy independence laying the foundation for an energy abundant ecosystem and globally competitive prices for consumers,” says Frank Oomen, CEO of Ignitis Renewables.
At the start of summer the largest wind farm in the Baltics – the 314 MW Kelmė wind farm in Lithuania – was completed. The project consists of two stages and 44 wind turbines, each reaching a tip height of 240 metres, making them the most powerful wind turbines ever installed in the country. The wind farm can generate enough electricity to power approximately a quarter of a million households.
In Latvia, Ignitis Renewables commissioned two large-scale solar projects in 2025. The 94 MW Vārme solar farm entered operation in July, followed by the Stelpe solar project, which consists of two sites with a combined capacity of 145 MW and reached commercial operation in August and September. Covering 110 hectares, the Vārme solar farm can supply renewable electricity to more than 40 thousand households annually. The Stelpe project spans 170 hectares and can meet the electricity demand of approximately 70 thousand households, making it one of the largest solar developments in the country.
In August, the second stage of the Silesia wind farm in Poland also entered operations. One of the country’s largest onshore wind farms, the project comprises 38 turbines with a total installed capacity of 137 MW and can meet the annual electricity demand of around 177 thousand households. In addition, the 24 MW Polish solar portfolio also reached completion in 2025.
These projects added 451 MW of onshore wind and 263 MW of solar capacity to the portfolio, significantly expanding the company’s operational footprint in the region.
With significant strategic progress, Ignitis Renewables has cemented its role as a key driver in the Baltic energy transition. Focused investments in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Poland enhance regional energy security and foster an energy-abundant ecosystem, paving the way for sustainable economic growth and globally competitive prices.
