This is the greatest number of supported activities and initiatives from the beginning of the Fund’s operation. The total amount designated for support is more than EUR 800 thousand. In total, 128 applications have been filed for support. This year priority has been granted to initiatives promoting non-formal education and leisure activities for children and youth, supporting children suffering from oncological diseases, as well as promoting science and innovation.

“The Support Foundation supports activities important for communities that meet the strategy and values cherished by “Lietuvos energija”. It is important for the Group companies to encourage the implementation of socially responsible initiatives by sharing the results achieved with the society. The support of different projects also contributes to the creation of the state welfare,” told Mr. Mindaugas Keizeris, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Lietuvos Energija Group.

In 2017, the Fund has approved new priority for national projects – promotion of non-formal education and leisure activities for children and youth by supporting organisations that have extensive experience in the implementation of social projects; their projects create benefit for society and contribute to the reduction of social exclusion. The remaining two directions which are support for children with oncological diseases and promotion of science and innovations by supporting young scientists’ ideas, research, and works remained the same as during the preceding period.

Decisions on the allocation of support have been made by the Fund’s Board and approved by the Fund’s Council. Within the category of national projects, the biggest amount of support has been allocated to the following organisations: charity and support fund “Mamų unija” (Mother Union) (establishment of a family home), activities of the Relief Organisatiojn of the Order of Malta, public organisation “Save the Children”, NGO Confederation for Children (project “Grow, play and create”), public institution “Robotikos akademija” (Robotics Academy) (promotion of children and youth’s occupancy by using STEAM training tools).

Meanwhile, the supported regional projects will cover civil, education, science, social, art, culture, and sports initiatives in different regions of Lithuania. The initiatives of Elektrėnai Vocational Training centre, Rotuliai community, Lithuanian National Consumer Federation, and other organisations are among the supported projects.

Agreements with beneficiaries selected by the Fund will be signed in the near future. All organisations that received the Fund’s financial support will have to submit detailed reports at the end of implementation of their projects. An independent audit on the use of support will also be conducted.
