Dane Peter Overgaard was selected as Independent Board Member of Ignitis Renewables
An energy technology and project management professional Peter Overgaard, who has broad international experience, took office at the Board of an international green energy company Ignitis Renewables.
Previously, there were no independent Board members, but with the rapid green generation development in the pipeline of Ignitis Renewables, the decision was made to strengthen the Board with a renewable energy expert as independent member of the Board.
“Including independent professionals to the management of the Group is one of the most important principles, which allows to ensure transparent and efficient management of the companies. I am confident that the competence of the selected independent member and his experience in onshore and offshore wind development, which is relevant to the company, will contribute towards implementation of strategic green energy development objectives of the Group”, said Vidmantas Salietis, Management Board Member at Ignitis Group and Ignitis Renewables.
By means of publicly announced selection, together with UAB “Alliance recruitment” recruitment agency, Mr Overgaard was selected out of 46 candidates and started working in the Board on 30 August, with term of office ending on 2 January 2023.
The new independent Board member earned a master’s degree in energy sector, mechanical engineering at Aalborg University, developed business administration competences at Vitus Bering University College in Horsens. Mr Overgaard gained the current experience by working managing jobs in various companies developing green energy, such as DONG (now Orsted) or Siemens Gamesa. Additionally, he has very valuable experience in one of the strategic markets of the Group – Poland. Currently, the new Board member leads the Danish company Danstoker Group – one of the leading companies in the world that offer various technical solutions for international energy and environment sectors.

The Ignitis Renewables Board comprises three members in total: two representatives delegated by the company’s shareholder AB “Ignitis grupė” and one independent member. Excluding the selected Peter Overgaard, the members of the Board of Ignitis Renewables also include Vidmantas Salietis, Chief Commercial Officer of Ignitis Group, and Jonas Rimavičius, Group Head of Finance and Investments.
