New company took over the supply of natural gas to residents and business

Starting from November, natural gas to the country’s residents, business and other customers will be supplied by the new company Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas owned by Lietuvos Energija Group. The Company will be headed by Mantas Mikalajūnas, who was today appointed the General Manager of the Company.
 
In the implementation of requirements of laws of the European Union to unbundle the natural gas supply and distribution activities, Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas unbundled from Lietuvos Dujos will be in charge for the supply of natural gas to consumers of Lithuania. The new company took over from Lietuvos Dujos all gas consumers and gas supply agreements concluded with them, the performance whereof will be continued. 
 
Dalius Misiūnas, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Lietuvos Energija, emphasized that Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas must aim to offer to the market a competitive natural gas price, which would be appealing to consumers and favourable to the growth of the country’s economy.
 
“Currently, it is most important to efficiently integrate the company into Lietuvos Energija Group to be able to exploit all synergy opportunities. Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas will significantly contribute to the aim of our group to diversify our operations, increase the value of the Group and ensure more flexible natural gas supply conditions”, said Dalius Misiūnas, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Lietuvos Energija.
 
Before being appointed the General Manager of the gas supply company, M. Mikalajūnas worked in Lietuvos Dujos for twelve years; lately, he was an acting manager of the Company and coordinated the unbundling of activities of Lietuvos Dujos.   
 
“My goal is an efficiently operating natural gas supply company providing quality and competitive services. We will seek to retain and to further strengthen good relations created with our customers and partners over a long period of time. I believe that closely cooperating with other companies of Lietuvos Energija Group we can achieve all our aims” said M. Mikalajūnas.
 
The Board of Directors of the Company appointed M. Mikalajūnas the General Manager thereof. Director of Legal Service of Lietuvos Energija Ieva Lauraitytė and Director of Strategy and Development of Lietuvos Energija Mindaugas Keizeris became members of the Company’s Board.
 
There will be about 560 thousand customers using the services of Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas, the majority of which are residents. The Company will employ 140 people, most of whom have transferred from Lietuvos Dujos.
